What's the difference?
A full-service studio gives you a producer or operator who runs the cameras, monitors the audio and often edits afterwards. You turn up and talk; they handle the tech. It's the most hands-off option — and the most expensive, usually AED 350–490+ an hour.
A self-service studio gives you the same room and gear, pre-configured, but you press record yourself. There's no operator on the clock, so it costs less — typically AED 150–250 an hour. You get a quick walkthrough on arrival, then the space is yours.
Side by side
| Self-service | Full-service | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost / hour | AED 150–250 | AED 350–490+ |
| Who runs it | You | Studio operator |
| Privacy | Just your team | Crew in the room |
| Flexibility | High — your pace | Set by their schedule |
| Editing | You / a freelancer | Often included (for a price) |
| Best for | Regular shows, creators, budgets | One-offs, brands wanting hands-off |
Choose self-service if…
- You record regularly and want to keep per-episode costs low.
- You like privacy — no crew in the room with you and your guest.
- You're comfortable pressing record (or happy to learn in a 5-minute walkthrough).
- You already edit yourself or work with a freelance editor.
Choose full-service if…
- It's a one-off and you want zero technical involvement.
- You need live switching, complex multi-cam direction or same-day edited delivery.
- Budget isn't the deciding factor.
The honest middle ground
For most independent podcasters and creators in Dubai, self-service wins on every axis that matters week to week: it's cheaper, more private, and more flexible — and modern studios are set up so the gear is genuinely one-tap. You only really need full-service for high-production one-offs. If you want to see what a serious self-service room looks like, that's exactly what we built. See how the costs compare.
